Hon graduated from the University of Bristol with a Masters in Electronic and Communication Engineering in 2006 and soon after received his Diploma in Insurance from the Chartered Insurance Institute. In 2007 he started his insurance career with SwissRe in the Energy underwriting domain working with MNC’s predominantly across North America and Europe. In 2014, Hon moved to Singapore to lead the regional offshore team for SwissRe Corporate Solutions.
In a rare move, Hon pivoted from commercial insurance to pursue his interest in how technology can impact the personal lines insurance space. His unrelenting desire to learn and delve into the retail insurance market landed him in the startup technology arm of the largest private medical groups in Asia. It was here he developed an intimate understanding not only of how technology, insurance and the healthcare ecosystem interoperates, but more importantly the real human emotions involved.
Hon thrives on being active outdoors as much as he can. He also believes he is a wine connoisseur and is working towards attaining WSET level 3. Until he retires a sommelier, he welcomes clients to come by the office for a tasting!
